Decatur State of the City Address + City Schools of Decatur State of the Schools, January 25, 2023

During the annual State of the City address, Mayor Patti Garrett underscored the City’s commitment to the Strategic Plan and highlighted how the city is moving forward to achieve its fundamental tenets; equity and racial justice, climate action, civic trust, affordable housing, mobility, and economic growth. She went on to mention several initiatives that are already underway, such as the parks and recreation master plan, the downtown master plan, the clean energy plan, and affordable housing projects.

Following Mayor Garrett’s address, CSD School Board Chair James Herndon provided an update on the state of the City Schools of Decatur and highlighted some of the accomplishments such as the track and field project at Legacy Park, staff contracts, equity programs, counseling services, and the development of a five-year strategic plan.
