General Office Hours: Monday-Friday 8-5 p.m. The General Office Hours are primarily for scheduled appointments, Tree Protection Plan Submittals, Historic Preservation Submittals and Plumbing and H.V.A.C. permitting only. The office is generally closed for the lunch hour from noon to 1 p.m.
Building Official's Office Hours: Monday OR Friday 8-11 a.m.; Tuesday OR Thursday 1-4 p.m. (Please note that the Building Official is not available the rest of the day.) Building Official's Office Hours are scheduled for Residential, Commercial and Institutional Plan Submittals, the issuing of building permits, Certificate of Occupancy or Certificate of Completion, and any general questions.
Building Inspector's Office Hours: The Building Inspector is generally in the office and available Monday-Friday from 8-9 a.m. and 4-5 p.m. to discuss all inspection related issues.
Department Overview
The Planning, Zoning and Inspections Department provides development and land-use regulation and services through plan review, construction and property inspection, and enforcement. Employees of this department also provide staff support services to the City Commission and various appointed boards.
The primary goals of the Planning, Zoning and Inspections Department are to ensure that:
- Physical development of the community is accomplished according to the codes, ordinances, and plans adopted by the City Commissioners.
- All properties in the city are maintained according to the codes and ordinances adopted by the City Commissioners.
The department strives to perform construction inspections within 24 hours of a request, to review residential construction plans within seven days of submittal, and to review commercial and institutional construction plans within 30 days of submittal.
