City of Decatur COVID-19 Update 3.3.2020

The City of Decatur is actively following the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.  We are monitoring public health information for any potential impact in our community. We are coordinating with and following the guidance of the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH), DeKalb Emergency Management Agency (DEMA), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Here are some basic steps that we all need to follow to prevent the spread of viruses:

•Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.  If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
•Don’t touch your eyes, nose and mouth.
•If you are sick, stay home and do not return to work until you are free of fever and other symptoms for at least 24 hours.
•If you become ill while at work, please avoid other employees and return home immediately.
•Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.  Don’t forget phones, keyboards, and door handles.  Public Works has provided disposable cleaning wipes to all departments.
•Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, and throw the tissue in the trash.
