Application Process to Join the DYC
Each year in September the City Commission appoints members to the Decatur Youth Council to serve a one-year term. Eligibility includes high-school aged students, regardless of school affiliation, provided they are residents of the City of Decatur. DYC members will be chosen based on academics, community service, leadership attributes, character, essay, and recommendations from adult references. Selected candidates will be called to schedule an interview.
The 2025-2026 DYC year is underway. Applications for the 2026-2027 DYC will be posted on this page in late June 2026.
